Short description: Note: Currently we mostly work from home and thus cannot be reached via our office phone numbers. We can arrange virtual appointments by Zoom, MS Teams, or BigBlueButton. You may also call RRZE's HelpDesk (+49-9131-85-29955) and leave a message for us - but you probably get a faster response by sending us an e-mail (hpc-support@fau.de).

Professorship for High Performance Computing

The HPC group at RRZE is the main point of contact for all scientists at FAU or from NHR that want to optimize or parallelize their code, run it on our clusters, apply for resources at RRZE or outside of Erlangen, or procure their own systems.

There are two e-mail addresses that should be used for initial contact:

  • hpc-support@fau.de should be used for issues concerning our systems, such as quota extensions, mysterious job failures, software installations, etc. All e-mails to this address go into our helpdesk system and automatically open a support ticket. Please try to be as specific as possible in order to allow us to look into your issue without further delay, i.e., specify your HPC account, the cluster/login node you are using, job ids and output files from the batch system, etc.
  • hpc@fau.de is the contact e-mail address for general inquiries about high performance computing.

Please do not e-mail anyone in the HPC team directly about a new issue – we are travelling frequently and your message may get lost. Use your official university e-mail address when contacting us.

Monthly HPC Cafe – chat, get advice, and have some coffee

You can also get in touch with us in person, discuss problems and ask questions at our monthly HPC-Cafe at RRZE. It takes place every second Tuesday of the month and there is free coffee and cake!

Competence centers

Two specific “Labs” (for atomistic structure simulations and performance) gather people from RRZE’s HPC group but also from different application groups of the University to give multifaceted support in these specific areas.
