BayernKI

BayernKI will provide HPC-/AI-resources for researchers from Bavarian Universities and Bavarian Universities of Applied Sciences. NHR@FAU and LRZ in Garching will host the hardware and offer training, support and services.

Please note that the resources currently available for BayernKI projects are limited. A considerable extension of these resources will be installed in late 2024. Until then, the BayernKI resource access is under a test status.

Information about the systems from LRZ are available in LRZ’s documentation.

  • NHR@FAU expands its resources for AI and Deep Learning

The compute capability at NHR@FAU and LRZ in Garching for AI workloads is going to be expanded substantially. To this end, the Free State of Bavaria provides considerable funding for new investments as a component of the High-Tech Agenda. Both centers will serve as AI competence and computing centers for FAU for all scientific institutions throughout Bavaria.

  • Fast data line between Erlangen and Garching

A fast communication link connects NHR@FAU with LRZ in Garching. This high-performance network can transmit 100 gigabits per second in each direction and improves the connectivity of the HPC and AI systems of LRZ and NHR@FAU.

  • The City Council of Erlangen approved a further expansion of the southern university campus, which will also provide more space for NHR@FAU in the future. The expansion of NHR@FAU’s resources includes research with and about Artificial Intelligence (AI), which is becoming one of the cornerstones of global competition in science and industry.
