Monthly HPC Café: How to apply for computing resources in Germany and Europe (September 16, hybrid)

A cup of coffee and a plate with a sweet piece of pastry on it in front of a computer keyboard.

The next HPC Cafe takes place on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. as a hybrid event. As always, there will be plenty of time to get in touch with your favorite HPC group. We invite you to come to NHR@FAU to enjoy coffee, cake, and computing.

The event will start with the open coffee chat and Q&A, at 4:00 p.m. At 4:30 p.m., the presentation will begin.

Topic: How to apply for computing resources in Germany and Europe

Speaker: NHR@FAU staff & LRZ staff

Location (hybrid event): seminar room 02.049 (RRZE, Martensstraße 1, 91058 Erlangen) and Zoom: https://go-nhr.de/hpc-cafe

Abstract: If you are user of HPC systems, chances are that your demand will sooner or later outgrow the resources at your disposal. In this HPC Cafe we will show you what resources you can apply for in Germany an Europe and what the prerequisites are for getting computing time at larger centers. We will cover the local supply at NHR@FAU, the Tier-2 systems of the NHR Alliance, the Tier-1 Gauss Centre for Supercomputing (GCS), and Tier-0 EuroHPC systems.
