FAQ about NHR@FAU Trainings

This FAQ summarizes current practices. Always refer to the specific course registration page for the most accurate, up-to-date information.

Eligibility and Costs

  • The eligibility requirements are listed on each course’s registration page. For most courses, participants affiliated with an academic institution in the EU are eligible – including students, PhD candidates, postdocs, professors, and research staff.

  • Yes. However, for courses with high demand, priority may be given to university affiliates.

  • Unfortunately, most of our courses are not open to participants from industry. If you are interested in arranging a bespoke training event for your team, please reach out to us.

  • For eligible participants (see above), almost all courses are free of charge. Please refer to the specific registration page for any course-specific information or exceptions.

Registration, Cancellation and No-Shows

  • You can request to be added to the waitlist by sending an email to sebastian.kuckuk@fau.de from your university email address. Include:
    • Your full name
    • The course name
    • The course date
  • If a seat becomes available, we will notify you.

  • Yes. In many cases, you can cancel using the link provided in your registration confirmation email. If that option isn’t available, contact us at sebastian.kuckuk@fau.de to revoke your registration.
Please deregister as early as possible — course seats and computing resources are limited.

  • If you deregistered in advance, no further action is needed. If you missed the course without deregistering in time, your name will be added to our soft blacklist.

For future courses that reach full capacity, registrations from blacklisted participants are converted to waitlist entries, giving priority to other participants.

Certificates

  • Yes. The type of certificate depends on the course (course-specific details are also listed on each course’s webpage):
    • For NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute (DLI) courses, certificates are issued by NVIDIA upon successful completion of the required assessments.
    • For all other NHR@FAU courses, we provide digital certificates of attendance.

Bespoke Courses

  • We are happy to discuss the possibilities for customized courses with you. Please reach out to sebastian.kuckuk@fau.de to start the conversation and include details such as
    • Topics or skill areas to be covered
    • Expected number of participants
    • Preferred format (online/ in-person)

  • We offer tailored training sessions for companies and other non-academic organizations upon request. Please contact sebastian.kuckuk@fau.de with details such as
    • Topics or skill areas to be covered
    • Expected number of participants
    • Preferred format (online/ in-person)
  • Note: These arrangements usually work best with a minimum of five trainees.
