2025 hast just begun, and we already have the next good news for this year: A young and eager team from the FAU in cooperation with the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) will once again be able to take part in the Student Cluster Competition of the ISC High Performance 2025 in Hamburg.

The collaborative team of six students is called FAUSION, a pun on the universities FAU and USI, and is supervised by bachelor student Jonah Holtmann and NHR@FAU PhD student Aditya Ujeniya.Logo of the Cluster Competition Team for 2025 "Fausion".

During the competition, students construct and assemble a small HPC cluster using hardware supplied by a sponsor. Their performance is evaluated based on their cluster’s results in various benchmarks, including HPL (a.k.a. LINPACK) and HPCG, as well as its effectiveness in machine learning inference and porous media simulation applications.

We are already keeping our fingers crossed for our new team—you will certainly be hearing a lot more from them in 2025.
